Dead Day Revolution is our featured band of the week!

This week, #TheParrot is flying to Los Angeles to bring Dead Day Revolution!

The band is integrated by three members: Mikey Sandoz (lead singer / lead guitarist), Skeeter Joplin (drums) and Cristian Sturba (bass).

Their music is mainly heavy rock, strongly influenced by The Clash, Ramones and Jack White.

The critics define their style as a mix between “the retro-punk attitude of the Clash, and an intuitive gift for what makes for a catchy riff.  Alternating between a taut sensuality and a laconic drone with every syllable”.

Now, you can enjoy Dead Day Revolution’s music, while listening to your tweets on The Social Radio!

The Van Lears is the featured band of this week!

This week, #TheParrot brings a brother duo from NorthWest Georgia, The Van Lears!

The name of the band itself, is a tribute to queen of country music, Loretta Lynn and her hometown of Van Lear, KY.

The band worked with remarkable songwriters to compose their songs, including John Bettis, founding member of the Carpenters, who also worked with Michael Jackson,
Bob Regan, who wrote for Keith Urban, and Josh Osborne, who worked with Kenny Chesney.

They say the main reason to attract all these talented writers is their harmonies. Being both brothers great singers on their own right, hearing them together
is what makes the difference.

We have included a set of their best tracks on The Social Radio!

The Parrot is waiting for you!

The Shy Lips is the featured band of this week!

This week, #TheParrot flew all over to Europe to bring you the best indie music by the hand of The Shy Lips!

The story of The Shy Lips began with a handshake somewhere in Europe. The hands belonged to singer Adam Benrahmoun and bassist Victor Petersson, who found a common cause in their frustration over the current music climate and a desire to start a new wave of music that matters.

In little more than six months they had recorded their own CCTV Session in collaboration with Nudie Jeans, following in the footsteps of bands such as Band of Horses and The Soundtrack of Our Lives, and headlined Club Woody West in july 2012, one of best established and most respected music institutions in Sweden with acts like Bon Iver and The Vaccines. During the fall The Shy Lips further developed their fresh sound and the result, the EP “Nowadays” was released on January 25th.

The Parrot is waiting for you!

This week The Parrot brings you The Torn Images!

As always, The Parrot brings you the best music! =)

This time is the turn of The Torn Images, this amazing indie/alternative rock duo formed last year in Fountain Valley, California.

The group consisted of primary songwriter Briand Arabaca (vocals/guitars) and Jayson Thompson (drums). The band’s influences ranged from alternative rock, British romantic movement (80′s new wave)/mod revival, and indie folk rock.

The collaboration with OCMA nominated producer Jon O’Brien and live sound engineer/drummer Tyler De Young in October 2012 created a unique sonic vision which is translated into a pure aural bliss. Hence, the production of the Torn Images’ first EP called The Dawning commenced with relative ease and impact.

The Social Radio for iOS is now also designed for the Visually Impaired

The Parrot is so happy to announce our new iOS version with support for the Visually Impaired! =)

We’ve been listening to all your feedback and we improved our app to make it more accessible!

“Suddenly, we realized that a lot of visually impaired users were downloading the app, but the app wasn’t designed for them. We started to get a lot of feedback from visually impaired users, saying that the app was great to follow Twitter, but on the other hand that there were certain features the app should have, to be even more useful.” says Roberto Gluck, our CEO.

Gluck adds: “We took our user’s advice and performed tweaks to the app, maybe the most important ones are the full VoiceOver support, to make it easier to navigate the app, and the ability to adjust the Speaking Rate, which is a very important feature because these users are accustomed to listen to faster text-to-speech voices.”

VoiceOver

The Social Radio for iOS is just the first step, the upcoming goal is to add the same support into the other platforms. Focusing on iOS would help to really understand how the app should work, and to improve the user experience.

So we would need your help to make it even better, please send your feedback to info@thesocialradio.com

Download our iOS app here. Or our other apps: Android and Web.
